My chosen brief for my A2 coursework was to product a music promo package which included an advert cover, digipak cover with a disk cover as well as a music video of our choosing. the artist that was chosen for our promo package was James Blunt who is of the soft rock genre. for my coursework, I worked in a group which included Beth Davies, Declan Ryan and Craig Bryden, within our group we planed created and evaluated our work that we produced for our A2 coursework.

We used the Canon DSLR cameras (model 700d) to record our footage and we used Final Cut Pro X to edit it, we also used this camera to take the photos that were used or the advert and digipak which were edited in Photoshop. I worked on both the video as well as the digipak and I enjoyed using Photoshop as I didn't have much experience using it so it was a good experience learning new skills in Photoshop.

Casting

Recce shots

This is the recce shots of rosemary topping. These shots shows what the scenery is like for where we will be shooting our footage for out music video. We will be shooting this in different places at rosemary topping, these will be at the top of the mountain and the pathway to the mountain.

Question 2

This is Question 2 this question is about how effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts. This question is presented on PowToon. It talks about brand identity, how we used it, our target audience, our design ideas and how the advert and digipak link.

This is Question three, this question is about what we learned from our audience feedback. This question is presented on Prezi and it talks about our survey monkey feedback as well as our feedback that we received form our focus group.

Music Video final

CD cover

This is the CD cover design that has been made for the digipak. The image that has been used is a picture of a guitar that has been used in the music video, so it this makes it suitable and it it links the CD cover to the music video. The text that has been used is the same font that has been used for the advert and the digipak. there is also copyright information that has been placed around the outside of the disk as this is often used on most CD disk covers.

Advert idea 3

This is our third idea for our advert cover. As you can see it is very similar to the second advert idea as it uses the same fount style, the same picture of the artist and the same background that he is faded out into. However there are some changes that have been made, for example the white background had been changed to a more light pink colour, this removes some of the blank space but the pink colour isn't very suitable. Another thing that has been changed is the colour of the font as it has been changed from black to white. However the use of the white make it slightly difficult to read as the artist is wearing a white t-shirt. We have also changed the fade out effect this is because the fade out effect has bee slightly toned down so then you can see the artist more.

Advert idea 2

This is another idea for the advert of which we could use. like the first advert idea, the background is still white and this shows a lot of blank space which could be filled up. As you can see, we have changed the picture of the artist, this is because we thought that the first picture that we used was good but this picture was better and it filled up more of the advert. We have still used the fade out effect and the same scenery picture. some of the things that we could change is the background and the colour of the font as this will make the advert look more aesthetically pleasing and this will make it stand out to our target audience.

Digipak

This is our digipak that we will be using for our final piece. The images that we have used within the digipak are related to the advert as well as the music video, this is because they are scenes that are used within the music video and the advert. The text that is used for digipak is the same as the one that is used for the advert and the music video, this will link both of these things together.

Advert Idea 1

This is one of our ideas for our advert that we could use for our final product. This advert uses a picture of the artist that is faded into a picture of a beach. The image that was used is very suitable but the white background isn't very suitable as there is a lot of blank space in the background and this isn't suitable. The use of font that is used is very reminiscent of a James blunt album cover. However the use of just the black font makes it seem a little bland and it doesn't stand out.

Advert

This is our advert for our music video and album. we have used a shot of the artist and blended it with a shot of the beach as this would link the advert to the music video as there are some shots that are used at the beach. the style of the text that is used is similar to the style that is used by James Blunt, we used this font as we wanted the advert to look similar to the style that James Blunt uses.

Rough Cut 9

This is our 9th rough cut. In this rough cut we added some new studio shots, we also added some more thought beats. However there are still some that need adding, and the music video still goes on after the music video has ended so this needs changing. As well as this, the ending needs slightly changing as there is a shot that is used which shouldn't be there.

Today I continued to work on my question 3 evaluation by linking the question (What you learned from your target audience) towards some of the theories. I Also worked on the digipack and I added an image for the inside centre of the digipack.

Today I continued to work on my Question 3 evaluation on Prezi. I have added an image and talked more about the different theories that can we used.

Today we did some editing for the music video, we tried to add more thought beats to the music video and we also changed the ending shot. However we noticed that in one of the shots, someone is in the shot so we will have to re-shoot that shot

Rough cut 8

This is our 8th rough cut, and in this we added some more thought beats to the music video, but there are some that still need changing or adding. Also at the end of the music video, the video continues going with just a black screen so this needs changing, along with some shots as they don't fit with the music video.

Rough cut 7

This is our 7th rough cut. In this rough cut, we added some thought beats to the music video. However there are still some thought beats that need changing. Also we notices that someone is in the refection in one of the shots so this needs changing.

Rough Cut 6

This is our 6th rough cut of our music video. in this music video, we have removed the shots where there was another girl involved as this made the narrative more difficult for the audience to understand what was going on. We also changes the ending so that the artist went to the train station. However we still need to add the thought beats within the music video.

Rough cut 5

This is our fifth rough cut. Within this rough cut, there are scenes where the artist girlfriend is coming round his house. However there are still some shots that still need to be shot such as the ending scene as well as replacing the shots at the park and at the beach and caffe.
